About the Course

The Certificate Course on Research Methodology, offered by the Interdisciplinary Center for Advanced Research Methods (ICARM), is designed to catalyze advanced research in higher education. This three-month course adopts an application-based learning approach, providing candidates with unique tasks tailored to their individual requirements. Through hands-on experience, candidates will acquire advanced concepts essential for successful task execution. The course encompasses examinations, panel discussions, and project report submissions, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. PhD scholars, faculty members, undergraduate and master's students, as well as industry professionals from engineering, medical, and management backgrounds, are encouraged to enroll in this essential course to gain expertise in advanced research methodologies. As part of ICARM's lifelong learning initiative, the course guarantees interaction with at least one international expert in the candidate's field of interest.

Syllabus

Module 1: Introduction to Research Methodology

In Module 1 of the course, candidates will benefit from tailored content designed to meet their specific requirements and research targets. This personalized approach ensures that each candidate receives instruction and guidance that directly aligns with their individual research goals and interests. Additionally, medical candidates will gain insight into the importance of Ethical Committees, understanding the ethical considerations and regulations essential to conducting research in the medical field. Furthermore, computer science students will be introduced to Machine Learning Applications, exploring the innovative ways in which machine learning techniques can be applied to research and data analysis within their discipline. Throughout the module, there will be a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaborations, highlighting the value of cross-disciplinary partnerships in advancing research and addressing complex societal challenges.

Module 2: Case Study - Report Writing

In Module 2, candidates are tasked with preparing a comprehensive 30-page report within a span of 7 days on any research topic of their choice. The report is then submitted to the Interdisciplinary Center for Advanced Research Methods (ICARM) for expert feedback, which is provided within 48 hours of submission. Candidates are required to engage in three to four rounds of corrections based on the expert feedback before the final submission. This module not only enhances candidates' report writing skills but also introduces them to advanced concepts relevant to their chosen research topics, thus facilitating deeper understanding and proficiency in research methodology.

Module 3: Case Study - Manuscript Preparation

Module 3 focuses on manuscript preparation, where candidates are tasked with drafting a manuscript within a timeframe of 10 days. Once completed, the manuscript is submitted to Interdisciplinary Center for Advanced Research Methods (ICARM), and candidates receive expert feedback within 48 hours. Similar to Module 2, candidates are required to undergo three to four rounds of copy editing based on the feedback received before the final submission to ICARM for publication. This module provides candidates with practical experience in manuscript preparation while refining their writing and editing skills under expert guidance.

Examination System

As part of our examination system, students will have the flexibility to choose their examination center based on their geographical location. With multiple centers available worldwide, students can select the one nearest to them at the time of submitting their course application form. The examination process will be conducted solely for Module 1, focusing on "Introduction to Research Methodology." For Modules 2 and 3, grades will be awarded based on the submission of assignments. Additionally, students will have the option to participate in an online open book examination for Module 1, providing a convenient alternative for those who prefer this mode of assessment.
